Berry picking

Hubby and I decided to take Bear berry picking early Saturday morning. We invited our friends Kristen and Bridgette to go with us.

After researching some local berry farms on Pickyourown.org, I decided to give Bobrook Farms a try. Right now they have ripe and delicious Blackberries and blueberries ready to be picked.  If you pick your own the price is $2.50 a pint and $5 a pint if they pick them for you. Since the farm is located close to Pinnacle Mountain,  we decided to pack our lunch and have a picnic at the mountain after our berry picking.

If you ask me, picking your own is the way to go. Bear loved hunting for the perfect berries to add to her basket. Bridgette and Kristen also enjoyed the hunt for the perfect berry.

We decided to hit the patch early to avoid the heat and to get the best pick of berries. We arrived at the patch around 7:15 a.m.  the weather was perfect for about an hour or so, then it began to get a little too muggy to be in the sun and we were getting hungry.

We packed up our freshly picked fruit and headed to Pinnacle for a nice picnic in the shade. Luckily we found the perfect table in the shade close to the playground. After lunch, Bear and Bridgette played for a while and we headed home.

Looks like a fun day. I always think of Grandma Rambo when I see blackberries. She always made homemade cobbler when we visited her! Delicious.
You are making great memories w your girls.

The blue berries were great in pancakes, and the black berries were great in homemade cobbler. Thanks to Kristen and Bridgette.
