The Arkansas Flower and Garden Show is Feb. 22-24 at the Statehouse Convention Center, and we’ve got several tickets to give away!
I may be geeking out, but there’s tons of things to do and see and buy at the show, so I’m pumped about going. Clearly, the sad state of my attempt at gardening last year could use some help.
The show features speakers, display gardens, how-to presentations, floral competitions and vendors offering tons of garden-related shopping.
On Friday night, there’s a special “Homegrown Entertaining” event with Chris Olsen from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. with wine tasting, hors d’oeuvres and party tips. Tickets are $40 for that, and seating is limited, so you can buy those early here.
Saturday is a big day for speakers, where you can catch Jo Ann and Jigs Gardner, Kelly Norris, P. Allen Smith and Janet Carson.
On Sunday, there’s even sessions tailored toward the kiddos where they can learn about wiggly worms’ work or build their own terrariums. All the specifics can be found here.
For a chance to win a ticket, leave me a comment below before next Wednesday that says what you’d like to see at the show. Good luck!

I too am planning a Veg Garden using beds. Going to start small and hope to work myself up. Maybe Dad will give e some pointers. Looking forward to the Garden Show…
Cool! What kinds of veggies are you planning on trying? Last year, i did cucumbers, bell peppers, tomatoes, jalapenos, strawberries and watermelon. I can’t believe I only got maybe 2 or 3 jalapenos out of all that work!
I would love to learn about using raised garden beds. I can’t been down like I use to. I use to have wonderful gardens and grow many veggies.
Me too!
I want to start small and plant items I would generaly pick up from the store like tomatoes, peppers, green onion, squash. My son loves strawberries and melons. Not sure where to start, so I have alot of research to do. Any pointers you could offer would be greatly appreciated.
My strawberry plants didn’t even flower, so I clearly did something wrong! Does anyone know how to make them bear fruit?
I have my tickets and I am ready to go. Hubby does not like the show. I always come home with tons of ideas for my “Hubby Do List.”
Mine would be more like a “I’ll start this but get distracted, so you have to finish it” list, ha!
I’d enjoy seeing herbs and would like to learn about an inexpensive, not-too-hard way to create a raised bed. And, of course, I’d enjoy hearing Janet Carson and P. Allen Smith, schedule permitting. I love to grow herbs and switched from ground to potted ones but would prefer raised beds.
Our raised beds aren’t very high, but they came in a kit at Home Depot. I think they were maybe $40 each?
I would like to win tickets because this is my mother’s FAVORITE outing! She is 85 & doesn’t get out much & I would LOVE to tell her that I won tickets to take her:)
Aww, that’s sweet, Mindy!
We are planning on gardening in the spring. Starting small but hopefully before long we will be able to grow potatoes, onions, squash, okra, peas, tomatoes, ect on a large scale. Can’t wait to attend the garden show. It will be our first time out!!
Can you do potatoes and onions in the spring? I always thought I’d have to wait until fall to try those.
I’m not sure when to plant any of them. that’s why I NEED to go this show. lol Just picked up our first Farmer’s Almanac and anxious to see when it says I should plant.
I’d love to go to the presentations on orchids and the one on elderberries. Tina Marie Wilcox is great fun to listen to.
I’m also looking forward to picking up some new plants!
Me too! Or at least making a list of what plants I want to buy!
