Review: Sniffle buddies by Cindy

images-1When sniffle buddies sent us a sample of their product, I was a little skeptical. But, it’s flu season and I’m willing to try anything.

This soft wrist band is primarily made for kids, but adults can use them too. There’s a photo on the package of a woman rubbing her nose against one while doing yoga. Not sure if I’ll try that.

But like most parents, we’re constantly trying to keep our 3-year-old from wiping her drippy nose on her sleave or her hand or our clothes or the furniture. For some reason, kids aren’t willing to carry around a box of tissues or stop playing with Thomas long enough to run to the bathroom to properly blow their noses.

So I brought home my sniffle buddy sample and waited for my daughter to get a cold. Of course, it didn’t take long.

I pulled out the wristband, which is billed as antibacterial, hypoallergenic, absorbent and eco-friendly because it’s made from bamboo and organic cotton. The band is washable, reuasable and easy to put on your child because it has velcro.

My daughter, of course, didn’t care about any of that. She just thought it was “super cool.” Her only complaint was that it only comes in white. She wanted pink or purple, of course.

But she actually used it. I had to prompt her the first few times but after that, she seemed to enjoy it. This, she pronounced, was for “big girls.”

The next day, when I dropped Sophie off at daycare wearing her sniffle buddy, her teacher asked me where she could buy some. Since it’s flu season, and keeping kids from spreading germs is a big part of her job, she say said she’d love to get every kid in the room one.

I can’t find reference to stores that might sell sniffle buddies on the product’s Web site, but you can buy them online for $9.99 plus tax for the kids’ size. It comes with a free mesh bag to wash the band in. So it’s a little too pricey to buy one for each kid in the class, but buying one or two for your kids won’t break the bank.

And I’m guessing the company, founded by two moms who presumable had kids with drippy noses, will get them into stores soon. In the brochure, they say they met at Target.
