Resolutions
I’m not a huge fan of New Year resolutions. Usually, I make it for a couple of weeks with them and then it all falls apart. But I’m going to take another stab at it this year. I absolutely need to lose some weight, so I’m going to set out some baby steps that I hope will get me started on my weight-loss journey. 1. Drink more water, especially on the weekends! I do pretty well with my water consumption during the week because I have a water bottle on my desk that I’m...

September started with a bang in the Chase family. On Thursday, Matt got a phone call from daycare to come pick up Alaina because she had a fever. It started low enough, just 101. Back in early May, my husband called 911 because I was having a seizure. The EMTs came and they took me to the hospital, where I spent the next five days. Sorry I’ve been quiet these past few days. I had a bit of a health scare on Sunday. I was taking a nap and then I started having a seizure. My husband promptly called 911 and paramedics took me to Baptist NLR Hospital. I’ve been here ever since — only going mildly stir crazy. Yesterday I had another seizure, which seems to have confirmed the neurologist’s suspicious about what is wrong with me. He seems to think that I’ve got an infection in my spine. So...

July 26, 2009 — Matt and I said “hello” to our beautiful little girl. Alaina Carol Chase weighed in at 6 lbs, 15 ounces and was 20 inches long. After a labor that didn’t progress and eventually ended in a C-section (sweet relief, let me tell ya!), it was such a blessing to hold my sweet child in my arms. On this day a year ago, I didn’t know what the future held for us. I didn’t know that doctors would discover an imperforate anus the next day and Alaina...
