Now that the convertible crib-to-toddler beds have both been removed from the twins’ room and they’ve got a full-size mattress to share, this is where they’re at:
We went around and around about what to do in here. The two toddler beds just weren’t working out anymore because Kayla and Kendall insisted on cramming themselves into one each night. And the bonus here is that mommy or daddy can lie down for a few minutes, too, when nighttime soothing is needed.
I suspect there’ll be bunk beds at some point in the future, but we’re hoping this will hold out for a few years. So now I’d like to find a way to transition their nest from the “baby” decor on the walls to little girl land without drowning the place in Hello Kitty or Dora or any other toddler characters because I know that won’t hold up for long enough.
I don’t want to keep the rocking chair in here for much longer, either — partially because it’s hard to rock them both now without them knocking heads/kicking each other/digging their toes into my legs. But I’m not sure what else to put in that corner. I like the idea of a reading nook, but clearly, they’re not old enough to read yet.
Any ideas? Help me out, people! I need a new wall color … hoping not to go as dark as the purple in Ava’s room here. (Although they do have the same curtains.) And another challenge is that Kayla leans toward the land of princesses, while Kendall’s a little more rough and tumble.
